After
setting out to create a plea for fathers everywhere to understand and
shoulder their responsibility as a unique figure in the lives of
children, J. Michael Jocelyn penned a series of 29 poems that will be
presented as a collection called Disappearing
Fathers: Tears of Little Angels. By
exploring a serious reflection that looks inwards, towards his
surroundings, and to the African-American community at large, he has
created a work that is spiritually potent, relevant for our times,
and, most of all, asks us all to reflect on our own families and the
ways that we either fulfill or neglect our duties towards them. With
a style that lays bare the heart during these times of struggle, J.
Michael Jocelyn presents an anthology of poems that impress their
weight upon the reader and ultimately reveals the incredible
importance of a father to a child.
“It
is looking towards this opportunity and decency that I implore all of
us to evaluate our challenges ourselves when it comes to doing a
better job as conductors of this essential gift, that is accompanying
these young people on their journey,” writes Jocelyn. “Each verse
embodies a plea to all of us (myself, and fathers most importantly)
to embrace our responsibility in being a unique figure in the lives
of children.”
For
those who are looking for an authentic view of African-American
family life in the modern age, J. Michael Jocelyn’s Disappearing
Fathers: Tears of Little Angels
represents an emotionally compelling journey from a unique
perspective. It is set to be released November 1, 2018 and will be available for purchase on Amazon.
